THE GRIEF RECOVERY METHOD

I offer an 8-week one-on-one format to complete the actions necessary to recover from grief. These are not counseling or therapy sessions. These are powerful, dynamic, sensible, and accessible programs that are for anyone willing to take the necessary actions to heal themselves.

This format provides a safe environment for you to look at your old beliefs and behaviors, and examine what losses you have experienced throughout your life, so you can then learn and take the actions that will help you complete the pain attached to those losses. It’s an action-based program that involves reading and writing assignments outlined in The Grief Recovery Handbook - 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition by John W. James and Russell Friedman. As a result, participants find that they are able to discover and complete what was left emotionally unfinished due to a death, divorce, or other major loss.

This is not a drop-in-style format. Your weekly attendance of this program is vital for maximum benefit in the healing and recovery process.

I have created a safe environment that allows you to articulate your feelings and take an active role in regaining your emotional balance.

The Action Program for Moving Beyond Death, Divorce, and Other Losses

WHEN CHILDREN GRIEVE

For  the Parents and Guardians of  Grieving Children

to Help Them Deal with Death, Divorce, Pet Loss, Moving and Other Losses

To watch a child grieve and not know what to do is a profoundly difficult experience. This 6-week program, offered in both a one-on-one and group formats, is primarily for parents and other guardians of grieving children who have been affected by a significant loss, like the death of a parent, grandparent, sibling, or someone else important to them, the divorce of the child’s parents or grandparents, or pet death to more everyday experiences such as moving to a new neighborhood or losing a prized possession.

This program is also valuable for counselors, therapists, teachers, and anyone else who interacts with children on a regular basis.

Our alternative to traditional one-on-one grief and loss counseling is to teach you how to guide your children in completing their relationship to the pain, isolation, and loneliness caused by a significant loss of any kind.

There are many myths about dealing with sad emotions that confuse children: time heals all wounds, cry alone, bury your feelings, don't feel bad...have a cookie and you'll feel better. In this program, using When Children Grieve: For Adults to Help Children Deal with Death, Divorce, Pet Loss, Moving, and Other Losses by John W. James and Russell Friedman, as the reference book, you will learn how to replace these myths with practical guidance for your children.

GRIEF RECOVERY FOR PET LOSS

SERVICES

Without comparing our relationships with our pets to those with people, we know that, because of the unique emotional relationships we have with our pets, their deaths produce a level of pain that is difficult to describe.

When a beloved pet passes away, people often resort to incorrect mechanisms to deal with the grief, such as trying to move too quickly past the loss (dismissing the real impact), or even attempting to replace the pet immediately. However, these are merely two myths out of six that we discuss and dismantle in The Grief Recovery Handbook for Pet Loss by Cole James, John W. James, and Russell Friedman. This 6-week one-on-one program addresses how losing a pet is different from losing a human loved one, and ultimately, how to move on with life.

If you’ve found yourself almost inconsolable after your pet died, please know that you’re normal.

If you’ve found that your family and friends don’t seem to understand the level of your grief, please know that, too, is normal.

What Am I Investing In?

The Grief Recovery Method®, which is the basis for all of the  programs described above, is a finite, powerful, and permanent way in which to identify, process, and become complete with your emotional losses. With over 30 years in existence, The Grief Recovery Method has helped hundreds of thousands of people throughout the world truly recover from their loss experiences. The Grief Recovery Method is NOT a passive process; it is in fact grief work. There is "homework" involved. The steps are simple, but they are not emotionally easy. The difference is... they work. You will receive a copy of The Grief Recovery Handbook, When Children Grieve or The Grief Recovery Handbook for Pet Loss, additional handouts as well as a journal for processing your feelings. The process is educational and experiential in nature so you will feel emotions you have tried to suppress for years. That is part of the work to becoming complete with your emotional losses.
